Scrumptious, succulent and savoury gins!
If you’re on the look out for something a little more adventurous than your average G&T ... you’ve found it. This is the unsweetened end of flavour profiles with a certain spiciness, herbaceousness and vegetal character.
These gins are distinctly savoury, so think of more saline attributes (such as olives, sea salt or even cheese) mingled with herbal notes (thyme, basil, olive leaf, pepper - just to name a few.)
While savoury gins can be made in a variety of styles, from minimal and clean right through to big, rich and flavour filled. We must note that the savoury profile extends way beyond just the flavour, and deep into the field of texture and salinity. Many distillers really looking to re-create a mild oily mouthfeel to coat the palate without disturbing the gins viscosity.
Don’t feel boxed in with these gins, these aren’t only for savoury concoctions - they can be a beautiful juxtaposition or enhancer of alternative flavours across the spectrum.
Welcome to the savoury side gin drinkers!
